LMAX Digital’s total notional volume for Monday came in at $2.39 billion, just 2% below 30-day average volume.

Bitcoin volume for Monday came in at  $1.26 billion, off just 1% from 30-day average volume. Ether volume was the only real standout, coming in at $673 million, 9% above average 30-day volume.

Total notional volume at LMAX Digital over the past 30 days comes in at $72.98 billion. The average daily trading range for BTCUSD is $5,091. The average daily trading range for ETHUSD is $496.

Crypto markets were right back on the bid in Monday trade, washing away a lot of fear and uncertainty that had crippled these markets in previous sessions. Most of the renewed optimism was assigned to the news of positive talks between Elon Musk and Bitcoin miners, where miners agreed to form the Bitcoin Mining Council to ‘promote energy usage transparency and accelerate sustainability initiatives worldwide.’

Another story of promise on Monday came from Ray Dalio’s confirmation that he now had his own Bitcoin holdings. Dalio, the founder of Bridgewater, the world’s largest hedge fund said we were witnessing a shift away from the dollar as the global reserve currency, a competition in which bitcoin and other digital assets played a major role.

We also think the crypto market should be feeling good about major players from traditional financial markets making their way over into careers on the crypto side. On Monday, it was revealed that Coinbase had hired Faryar Shirzad, former Goldman Sachs co-head of Government Affairs as Chief Policy Officer. Regulatory headwinds will be a challenge for crypto and having established players with reputable backgrounds lobbying on crypto’s behalf is certainly an encouraging sign.
