LMAX Digital volumes cooled off a bit on Tuesday. Total notional volume for Tuesday came in at $331 million, 9% below 30-day average volume.

Bitcoin volume printed $208 million on Tuesday, 2% above 30-day average volume. Ether volume came in at $89 million, 18% below 30-day average volume.

Looking at average position size over the past 30 days, we’re seeing average bitcoin position size at $6,759 and average position size for ether at 2,749.

Volatility has nudged back up in recent sessions after trading down near yearly low levels earlier in June. We’re looking at average daily ranges in bitcoin and ether of $992 and $65 respectively.

Bitcoin continues to do a good job holding up above $30k following the latest push to a fresh yearly high. There has been a little bit of a slowdown in momentum in recent sessions, but this could be nothing more than the market wanting to catch its breath ahead of the next push higher.

Fundamentally, the market could be looking at the recent run into resistance as pressures from headlines out of Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs relating to a more hawkish Fed outlook, poor US earnings and high valuations.

At the same time, there has also been a lot of talk out from the options front where a host of expiries are said to be rolling off throughout the week at $30k bitcoin and decent sized options to the tune of $2.5 billion in ETHUSD that will be rolling off on Friday between $1,800-$1,900.

Other news worth mentioning is the headline around the EU securing a political deal on new bank-capital legislation, including crypto, after lawmakers sought ‘prohibitive’ rules to keep unbacked digitals out of the traditional financial system.
