Total notional volume at LMAX Digital was flat in the previous week. Total notional volume from Monday through Friday came in at $4.9 billion.

Breaking it down per coin, Bitcoin volume came in at $3.2 billion in the previous week, up 16% from the week earlier. Ether volume came in at $1.2 billion, off 30% from the week earlier.

Total notional volume over the past 30 days comes in at $24.2 billion.

Looking at average position size over the past 30 days, we’re seeing average bitcoin position size at $11,368 and average position size for ether at $6,401.

Volatility has cooled off in recent weeks after topping out in December. We’re now looking at average daily ranges in bitcoin and ether of $2,331 and $197 respectively.

As the new week gets going, the crypto market is once again facing pressures from broader risk off in traditional markets.

Uncertainty around the Russia-Ukraine war outlook has been a strain on the emerging asset class and the door is now open for deeper setbacks.

Technically speaking, last week’s failure for bitcoin to get above the February high eliminated the possibility for a double bottom formation and kept the overall pressure on the downside.

This means there is still risk for a deeper drop from current levels back towards the critical low from June of 2021 at $28,800.

Another developing story over the weekend was the news of the exit of prolific developer Andre Cronje from the DeFi space. Cronje has widely been considered an innovator in DeFi and his exit from the space has definitely shaken things up.

On Sunday, it was announced Cronje and fellow collaborator Anton Nell would be shutting down around 25 Defi apps and services on April 3, 2022.
