Total notional volume from last Monday through Friday came in at $3.4 billion, 47% higher than the week earlier.

Breaking it down per coin, bitcoin volume came in at $1.9 billion, 79% higher than the previous week. Ether volume came in at $643 million, 48% higher than the week earlier.

Total notional volume over the past 30 days comes in at $15 billion.

Looking at average position size over the past 30 days, we’re seeing average bitcoin position size at $9,627 and average position size for ether at $1,662.

Bitcoin volatility is back on the rise towards February peak levels, while ETH volatility has been decidedly calmer. We’re looking at average daily ranges in bitcoin and ether of $4,199 and $194 respectively.

President Trump’s latest social media post about a US crypto reserve has inspired a healthy recovery in crypto assets. This is a welcome development after the crypto market suffered a difficult February month.

The President has said BTC and ETH will be at the heart of the reserve, with other components including XRP, SOL, and ADA.

The market has been waiting for fresh updates around follow through to what had been a very pro-crypto campaign for President Trump and this news has helped to bolster confidence.

At the same time, ultimately, all of this was already promised. So while the news is a positive for crypto market sentiment, it shouldn’t come as that much of a shock, which is already translating to profit taking as Monday gets going.

Technically speaking, we would have felt a lot better about the prospect for a bullish continuation had bitcoin retraced back to previous resistance turned support in the $74k area.

Indeed, it is possible we have seen the next major higher low by last week’s $78k area low. But in order for the market to feel more confident about this prospect, bitcoin will now need to extend the recovery and establish back above $100k.
