LMAX Digital volumes were up on Tuesday. Total notional volume for Tuesday came in at $474 million, 8% above 30-day average volume.

Bitcoin volume printed $296 million on Tuesday, 17% above 30-day average volume. Ether volume printed $123 million, 9% above 30-day average volume.

Looking at average position size over the past 30 days, we’re seeing average bitcoin position size at $7,488 and average position size for ether at 3,130.

Volatility has been trending lower in correction mode after peaking out at a yearly high in March. We’re looking at average daily ranges in bitcoin and ether of $964 and $73 respectively.

Any signs of a possible correction in Tuesday trade were quickly shrugged off, with crypto assets well supported into the smallest of dips.

At this point, we’re still consolidating off recent highs and a deeper correction should not be ruled out. But overall, the market remains quite robust.

It does however feel like regulatory scrutiny is once again ramping up, particularly in the US, which always has the potential to unnerve prices.

Headlines around Elizabeth Warren blaming the Bitcoin mining industry for rising energy prices, and reports the SEC has put an exchange on notice for possible forced termination have been getting more attention of late.

At the same time, activity remains healthy and data shows investment in crypto funds doubling last week, putting in the fourth consecutive week of growth.
